Dance as meditation is as ancient as man himself, and free-form sacred dance is present in many cultures and religions. Dancing free-form, we drop out of the busy mind and into the body, where we let go of thoughts and expectations, instead moving how our body and spirit want to move.
Expressing in this way allows you to release any stuck feelings, emotions or energy from your week, without judgement in a way that opens up space for connection and love. A dancer may have had a difficult week and need to release with a roar or celebrate wildly, it's all welcome with love. Anger can be expressed with love as it shows us what we will no longer accept, celebration is welcomed as it offers us a chance to honour this sacred life and its blessings.
Ecstatic Dance invites us to experience ourselves exactly as we are in the moment, without judgement or censorship. To have a welcome break from social conformity without the need to look beautiful or have the best moves, we intend to unleash freedom and spontaneous expression (which is beautiful and looks amazing in it's own right).
Using dance in a sober, mindful, sacred setting to help release stuck emotions, energies and break through patterns (of behaviour) bringing in joy, connection and feelings of being more alive.
Ecstatic Dance is a freeform dance. You are encouraged to abandon yourself to the rhythm and move freely how ever you feel called to move, tuning in to how your body wants to move.
To allow us open up and connect, we begin with a series of exercises and games that help us drop into the body and explore our inner freedom. The result allows us to be free and combined with the unique journey of ecstatic dance, helps us reach an ecstatic trance.
